I didn't have to sell my house.  WE were tight but we managed.

Plus the soldiers and sailors relief act would prevent the company from
foreclosing until after the soldier got back.

Additionally if the guy has been deployed for 2 years straight, he
volunteered.  15 months is the active duty deployment time with 12 (18 with
training and redeployment) months on the national guard/reserves side.
