Maybe some hyperbole there, but not much.

Freedom from insane laws?
Freedom of speech?
Freedom of religion? And from religious persecution?

Lets review again.

A woman decides to travel to a foreign country, and provide education
to children who _need_ it.
A child in the class names his own teddy bear after himself.
The class adopts the teddy bear, and votes to keep the owners name for the toy.

The teacher is arrested and tried for violating a _stupid_ law (my
take) "insulting the prophet".

And CONVICTED. And many of the leading folk in the country, including
religious and legal leaders, were advocating for the death penalty.

Where is the sanity again?

Truthfully, I couldn't care less that they want to live under strict
Sharia law. That is their choice. They are free to make it. It
certainly isn't mine. I find it sad, and definitely look down upon
them as less civilized than people should be. But that is wholly their
decision.

What I do object to is our country (and the country the woman is from)
contributing to the madness with foreign aid.

My take. You want to apply Sharia law to yourself? No problem at all.
To non-muslims? Not what it is for, but again, your right. Foreign
citizens? Really? Go right ahead. But don't ask me to give you money
to help you do it. And don't expect the world to continue to help you
do it.

Probably a good thing I am not President or Prime minister.

After Darfur, I would have expelled the diplomats of Sudan from my country.
After this verdict, I would have expelled the diplomats of Sudan from
my country.

Basically: No soup for you!
