Big Bear has good skiing. You can drive up really early, do the morning runs, leave around 2pm and be home. One thing I loved when I lived in So Cal was to go skiing on Saturday and then hit the beach on Sunday.

Big Bear is 2.5-3.5 hours away depending on traffic and where in the county you live. I haven't skied there but I did take a few days up there over the summer this year. The mountains there are relatively small for the West, but they have lots of snow making capability and are already open for skiing. The big deal for skiers is that you can drive to Mammoth/Tahoe, etc. in about 8 hours from San Diego, or you can fly to Reno in 1.5 hours and hit the Tahoe area slopes in no time. I know plenty of local recruiters if you ever get the urge to check out an opportunity. On Dec 2, 2007 9:57 PM, Crow T.
