There are a lot of numbers out there on nuclear. GE predicts that its third
generation design can produce energy at roughly$1,400 per KWh, cheaper once
the design is in production.

Here you can see that from a purely operating perspective, nuclear is our
cheapest option, even cheaper than  coal. The rub with nuclear is
construction cost and government red tape. Both could be substantially
reduced by GE's new design, which uses small uranium spheres for fuel rather
than larger fuel rods. The new design produces energy more efficiently and
is safer due to the smaller size of the fuel.
