On a similar note I heard a few years ago about a situation involving 
the Black Feet of Montana.  They did not conceed their land in any 
treaty, they had signed 100 year leases at the turn of the 20th 
century.  Those leases where expiring.  They still owned much of western 
Montana according to these documents.  The 5th generation ranchers of 
the area where disagreeing.

I have never been able to find out more about it then this sketchy 
overview.  I would be curious to know what, if any of this, is true and 
what has or is transpired with it all.  ,
