Religion is inextricably wound into many facets of our lives. If you
take any art history class, you're going to touch on religion. Same
could be said for lots of literature classes. If you look at
architecture of the middle east, much of it is the way it is because
religion dictates it. Politics and history? Religion everywhere. I've
got no problem with people understanding the history of religion. I've
got no problem with people understanding the principles of multiple
religions. The problems only arise when people start implying that
their version of religion is the only valid one, or that it somehow
supercedes science.

By the way, according to Yoruba ideology, the gods poured sand from a
calabash shell into the ocean, and sent down ancestral spirits who
pounded staffs in the sand to make it stable enough for humans. And
the center of the world is Ile-Ife, Nigeria. I find that no less
ridiculous than that the world was created in 7 days. If creationism
must be taught, then all versions of it should be taught as well.
Don't ya think?
