Which is why it would be a comparative religious studies rather than 
comparative Christianity or comparative Islam. I think that this class 
would need to be a year round class though and not just one semester 
because there is so much to cover. I think that you could cover at least 
all the major world religions in a school year enough to give students a 
broad understanding.

I agree that it is stupid to think that "my religion is better than 
yours" crap. Sure I don't agree with a lot of the teachings of Islam, 
and I have issues with Mormonism as well as others, but then I have some 
issues with my religion as well, which is why I don't exclude someone 
from my circle of friends just because they are not Baptist. I welcome 
all, religious or not.

And there is no denying that religion has played or currently does play 
into the way many countries govern themselves. None so more than Islam I 
believe.

I did not know though how important religion was in how artists and 
architects were influenced though until I took an Art History 
Appreciation class in college a couple semesters ago. It was eye opening 
for sure.
