There are probably lots of studies on the subject of flex working space from B-schools, but IMHO they tend to miss the point. My experience with B-school types is that they tend to overvalue things that they can accurately measure and undervalue things they can't measure, even if those things are central to their objectives.
Take this group. How would you measure the value of this group? Personally, I know it has a lot of value, but I couldn't give you quantitative measures off the top of my head that would support that statement. Many of the regular contributors to this group have never met in real life, and yet we have good relationships on the list. I think many corporate managers would have a tough time with that concept, because they still believe the old school mantra of face time and "water cooler" interactions. BS!
