Some things I see. The son: You make the deal, you get to "deal" with the consquences of breaking that deal. Although I doubt public humiliation was in the deal. Oh well. You get what you get. Maybe if this kid was more "productive" at 19 he could have saved up for his own car and insurance. Hell, then he could have gotten all the DUI's and have half drunk bottle's of Vodka thrown all over the car and he could of told MOM to Eff off. His life, his car, his insurance. Instead he chose the easy route and sponge off Mom.
The mom: I do understand Mom's "life lesson" though. Right idea, horrible execution. Why do people need their 15 minutes of fame? Why did she need to "sensationalize" what she did? She could have done this PRIVATELY and sold the car. Life lesson learned. He doesn't get the car anymore, maybe he'll think twice next time. To bad for him. Mom, however, chose to take this one over the line. What added life lesson does the son get when Mom goes above and beyond and decides to humiliate publicly? Tangent Note: IMHO There is WAY to much sensationalism in todays media. Like we have these NYQuits commercials running in our area. Its a quit smoking campaign that decided it was a good idea to show smokers lungs on a operating table while the surgeon cuts through it, or a full shot of gangrene foot thats being marked for amputation. Then the doctor tells some stupid story and tells you to quit. This is all in the name of shocking someone to quit. Guess what? I'd bet it doesn't work. I am appalled by this and I don't smoke. Why do I need to be shocked? Back on topic: Is it me or are the kids (man I really don't want to age myself here) now a days as bad as it seems. 19 is an ADULT. If you can smoke, vote and fight for this country, you should be able to drink. Conversely, you should also be completely responsible and accountable for your actions. Why does government keep feeling the need make laws that make decisions for you? Are we THAT incapable as a society that we need to babysit people with laws? Enough ranting....
