Nope, they were a company that threatened an industry, which
threatened the World economy.  Put another way, they were one player
who's failure if left to its own devices would destroy the US economy
and so industry players stepped in to bail them out and took pieces.

Same thing could happen here and already is to some degree.  Other
countries are stepping to TAKE our assets in exchange for bailing us
out.  Don't forget, the people who live here do so because there's
economic benefit.  If that were to cease, or if it were more
profitable to move to another country many would do so.

The point I'm making is that America is allowing itself to become a
hollow shell while the rest of the world is perfectly happy to siphon
out the egg.
