Because the inconsistencies were matters of omission, from what I can read.

Yeah, i gave him steroids, but just once or twice.
Yeah, i gave him steroids a little more often than that
Yeah, I gave him steroids, multiple kinds on multiple occasions, over years
Yeah, I gave him steroids, and even an abscess on his butt
Yeah, I have him steroids, and did I mention I saved the syringes and
cotton balls?

The main change in testimony came, according to the Feds and to
McNamee, after Clemens appeared on  60 minutes, and called McNamee a
liar, and talked about McNamee's son's health issues on TV.

Repeated examples of McNamee padding his resume, or failing to
acknowledge his lack of qualifications, shouldn't be held against him
to the same degree, as every resume and applicatant I see and read
about does the same thing.

As for the "barbecue", have you read the testimony of Roger's nanny?
She corroborates that they were there at Conseco's house _in that time
frame_ (but not necessarily on _that_ day).

(And because Waxman is one of those who's mind was made up before he
came today, in favor of McNamee)
