but see... I currently don't HAVE the option of deciding when to give the phone back. This is my point. I actually call BS on the theory that Lara texting in class was disruptive to the class, but I also think that if you are going to whine about wanting to go to high school you need to pay attention when you are there. So no, she is not an innocent victim here.
My parenting decision about this is still up in the air, but I'm not getting the opportunity to make it at the moment. I've already tried taking the phone away -- more grief for me than for her, as it reduces the remote management capabilities. I had to report her missing last night, and probably should have last Saturday also. However, since she is going to school for the social scene not for the academics, threatening to transfer her to the school that is local to the new house will probably be effective. And amusing, since her stated reason for wanting to go are academic (the local school has the highest test scores in the city).
