A few weeks ago the "computers were down" at Burger King at Tysons Galleria.
This was at the beginning of lunchtime so the lines weren't too long,
fortunately. They had one girl using a calculator to figure out the totals
and your change. It wasn't exactly lightning fast but they were obviously
determined to make the best of a bad situation.

So - the wife, rugrat and I go to Sonic yesterday at high noon and get
turned away because... the computers are down and it's going to take 15+
minutes to get them back. This makes me wonder...

1) Why these people can't use a calculator, or lord forbid, simple
freaking preschool mathematics to figure out our total? I understand if
they need to track the orders, but it's noon - the busiest time of the
year. Deal with it.

2) What kind of computers are they using that would take that long to
reboot and start up? Heck, even Win95 on a slow system would be up and
running in 4 minutes at most.

Am I crazy... or was I just being cranky because I was hungry??
