I think blogging serves a totally separate function from a list like this.
Especially as far as business is concerned.

Blogging doesn't make me feel better, it helps me build a brand and an
audience for my business related activities. It shows not just clients, but
competitors that hey, she's human, and look, she might have something useful
to share or say. I have a few friends who keep tabs on me through my "posts"
on the internet, whether here, Twitter, Facebook, my blog, my forums, etc.

I know a few people, like some on this list, that use it as a personal
outlet for stuff that either doesn't fit here on the list or serves a
purpose for the members of their life that aren't programmers and don't
subscribe to the list.

It also gives them a creative outlet and any creative outlet is not only
good for the brain but good for the soul.
