Weasely as all fuck, but not illegal. Mostly because there's never been a test case but also because they're "open" about the policy and claim it's in direct response to customer demand. One the actual registration page this is linked from "Network Solutions Protects you from FrontRunning!" box. Note that they DO ask if you want this - when you close the browser or leave their site. It's that incredibly dense, incredibly confusing JavaScript pop-up window that appears when you leave their site. My guess is that they enable the feature by default so that if you've blocked the pop-up or otherwise ignore it you've "opted in".
