I bought a Dell C840 laptop back in 2002...along with the 3 year extended warranty. A few months *before* the end of the extended warranty, the motherboard died and it was replaced under warranty. One month before the end of the warranty, the hard drive started making bad noises and it was replaced under warranty.
So, I second that vote for the warranty. Although Murphy's law says that everything breaks *after* the warranty has expired, it worked out alright in this case. Sadly though, the motherboard died late last year (long after the warranty was expired) and I bought a new laptop. You don't still have the C840 do you? -----Original Message----- From: Erika L. My beloved C840 Latitude turned 5 years old this year, and after repeated issues with speakers failing, a botched tech support call and a few other minor things, Dell finally replaced the system outright! With the equivalent, but MUCH upgraded D830 Latitude! http://www1.la.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/latit_d830?c=tt &cs=ttbsdt1&l=en&s=bsd Couple small issues I don't even know if I should dare complain about, but I might mention them to my service rep. The integrated graphics card is not as high as my old one, and they sent the wrong power cord. They should replace the power cord at least, I might be stuck with the graphics though. Overall VERY pleased!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;192386516;25150098;k Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:258174 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
