I assumed that this was a warranty repair?

If you can get them to fix it for free - do it!  Heck, even if you buy an
"arcade" still make them fix it then sell it.

If you start spending more money on it you're just going to resent it more
and more... it sounds stupid but it really has affected my enjoyment of
games.  First I have this "I've spent so much that this better be great"
mentality followed by a hyper-sensitivity when I'm playing: every wheeze,
ping and scrape of the fan causes me to tense up.

Games are supposed to be relaxing and fun!  When I'm playing a 360 game I've
got this strong undercurrent of dread...
