I started out as a Biology major....but I absolutely DESPISED chemistry. The
first semester I had a 7:30 AM Chem lab. It was 3 hours of pure hell, before
most college kids were even awake. I said screw that, no way i'm getting
through all the chemistry required for this major.

Luckily i'd signed up for an intro to programming class as an elective...so
i was on track for that major.

One thing I really liked about the CS major at my school, they required 12
upper division hours in another discipline...so I got to take a bunch of
Math courses, and ended up with a double major in Math...which rocked.

I had never programmed a thing, but the intro class I took pretty much
started at step one...the "Hello world" program...so it was perfectly suited
for me. We learned about constructs one at time...arrays, then linked lists,
then stacks, then piles.......all in C++.....just a great foundation for
future programming in just about any language.
