I'm not a hypocrite, I just have a different definition of "home grown". To
me, that doesn't have to mean you developed them in your farm system. If you
traded for them when they were "prospects", and then developed them....that
to me is home grown.

Look at the offensive starters for that team:

True, but a few hired guns is fine...your whole team isn't going to be home
grown. But the proportion of hired guns to home grown talent was much more
balanced, and I think it was the devleopment of those young kids, the
Bondermans and the Maroths et al, that put you over the edge and made you a
World Series team.....not the hired guns. All the haves these days have
hired guns.

How are we so much more about "hired guns" now than we were then?  We traded
