It depends on how sturdy the desk is, what is likely to fall on you, and
whether immediate exit is possible. If exit is impossible, a student-style
desk would offer some protection against falling debris. If falling debris
is heavy enough to crush a student desk, one isn't any *worse* off under the
desk.

This is a serious question coming from someone putting together a teacher
guide for teachers in China. Ya, it's a bit late for this one. He really
