Several years ago, I heard a NPR piece on Brazil and its use of "Flex"
cars.  These cars can use gasoline or alcohol or any mixture of the two.

Funny thing, if I remember correctly, is that most of these cars are built
in the US, then shipped to Brazil. The also cost the same as traditional
cars, not having the extra expense that hybrids have.  Also, the alcohol
cost about 1/3 of the price of gasoline and burns cleaner, meaning a lesser
pollution, which I know is important to many people.
