Ehhh...

Until Bio-diesel really catches on it's really expensive to produce, and not
easy to do so. It does require more frequent fuel filter changes, because of
the alcohol in the mix (until the gunk is dissolved out of the fuel lines)

And diesel provides tons of torque, but you can't beat gasoline engines for
top line speed.

It'll be interesting to see what happens, but if that's true it'll be tough.

The win with diesel is:

1.) Provides low-cost (possibly free) migration path to fully
renewable sustainable
2.) Requires no new engine, fuel, design, or fuel distribution
technology (truly green)
3.) Allows for significant performance (customer delight)

Hybrids are an evolutionary dead-end in my opinion, but if what you
say is true we may never find out because VCRs - oops - hybrids will
win.
