I might not have mentioned it, since I wanted to make sure it came to fruition first.
I am lucky enough to live on top of the barnett shale. They've discovered a way to remove the natural gas trapped inside of it and they've been drilling like crazy ever since. They drill out horizontally so the well is actually about 2000 feet away from my property. We just received our first check in the mail a couple of days ago. It was for the last 1/3 of february and all of march. For my 1.5 acres, the total was around $7k. My in-laws live behind me on 12 acres....... No telling how long it will last.
