You know, it's funny (sorta) but depending on the energy/pollution-math, people just getting rid of their current cars could be more wasteful than using them until they croak and then getting more efficient ones. It depends on a lot of factors... but it took a lot of energy to make that old metal car, and it will take a lot to unmake it, too.
