I agree, we need to identify the state and non-state entities involved. 
  This would allow us to push countries like Pakistan and Saudi to 
reform, justify conflict with Syria and Iran and assist the Israeli 
government in ousting the terrorist governments of the made up nation of 
Palestine.

See I think this is why no one, left or right, from the big 2 parties 
wants to do this kind of quantitative analysis of the situation.  If 
done you would have to admit that the funding, training, provisioning, 
ideological and religious support for our enemies is far more wide 
spread than most Americans would be comfortable with.

No one wants to admit that we are engaged in what amounts to a world 
war, attacks have taken place on ALL continents, the danger is deeper 
and more pervasive than the threat from Nazi style fascism ever was. 
You had a single nation state involved in that conflict.  It was easy to 
point and say, look theres the bad guys.
