Code Monkey very simple man, With big warm fuzzy secret heart: Code Monkey like you! Actually I'm not sure I would get too upset with your friend. Way too many chat clients make understanding when somebody is "busy" much more difficult than it should be. Either the status is nearly impossible to notice or obtuse (the icons on Lotus SameTime, which I'm forced to use, are completely obtuse). It's just way too easy to miss and write anyway. What SHOULD happen is that the requestor should get a confirmation dialog: "Your contact has a status of 'Busy', are you sure that you want to interupt?" or some such. In other words it should be a postive status, not a passive one. Just my opinion. I did a usability review of messaging clients... which was promptly ignored in favor of "whatever IBM says". But this issue was one of the issues on my list.
