Many NAS devices (my wonderful NetGear NV+ included) have backup software built-in. It can run on a schedule, use wake-on-LAN, etc to back up information automatically. Windows also has its own backup software that works pretty well: you can easily create VHD (virtual hard disk) files from your servers and store them to the NAS. These files are compatible with virtual PC and there's a VHD "Viewer" for the windows so you can access the backups as a "harddrive" to retrieve specific information from them. You can schedule Windows backup and the NAS backup to work together very effectively in my opinion. I've never found the need for anything other than the built-in stuff... but then again my needs are pretty simplistic.
