I don't think there is any question that the kids are provided for. I
do question the suggestion that the woman's judgement is somehow in
question because the kids are at relatives' homes. We know NOTHING
about her family. I am not comfortable saying that there is something
wrong because they are not all behind the same white picket fence. It
is a family and it seems to take care of its own. Good. Now the
abstinence education issue... I disagree very much. But it's a bit of
a cheap shot to say that's why the daughter is pregnant. I mean
really. Do you really think any 17-yo needs to be told what a condom
is in this day and age?

But it does perturb me to hear people saying sure honey, you can have
a career, you run for office, you can even be governor, but if your
kids have some sort of problem you are supposed to quit.

NEW FLASH -- there is always a problem. They always need shoes, or
help learning to read, or their best friend won't talk to them. It
does not end and anyone who thinks otherwise is a pretty new parent
methinks.

Meanwhile any woman applying for any responsible position or any
position where the employer will have to invest in the employee
hesitates to do so because we all know that women are supposed to run
off and be mommy the second someone needs them. I've seen that a lot
and I am really tired of seeing it fed by people who are bright enough
and educated enough to know better.

Parenthood is a balancing act, raising children is a big job, and if
your relatives can help then that's awesome. I sure wish mine were
able to cope in this regard. I really do think that some of the
smugger liberals in this thread need to re-examine their thinking on
the topic.
