A friend of mine had two computers at home.  He left them on 24/7.  He gave 
me the lecture about the hard drives and switches... bla.. bla.. bla.  His 
computer needs to stay on, even if he is gone for the weekend.

Last year, when electricity rates went through the roof in Souther 
California, it bit him in the butt.  Two 300 watts power supplies running 
24/7 use a little bit a electricity.  Now, he turns the off.
