It burns my ass, too, and I've know from personal experience, but none
of that is of consequence compared to the risk to the entire economy
if we can't get the credit markets moving again. We could see
double-digit unemployment in very short order, and that is something
no one wants.

I agree, there should be independent oversight and review. That's easy
enough to put in place. Treasury can play a role. Congress can play a
role. And the RTC, or whatever they will call it, will have its own
independent board as well, so that's three separate groups all
watching the till.

Bottom line- we are in a mess created by the credit market seizure,
and we have to get out of it as soon as possible, or the shit is
really going to hit the fan.
