I gotta say this is odd coming from a supposed conservative.  I mean I
have a lot of gun debates and one of the top reason I hear to "keep
arms" is to fight the government should it be needed.

As a libertarian leaning conservative I find it hard to be concerned
about someone wanting to fight the government if they think the
government has crossed a line.

That being said, I don't think that line was crossed in Ayers time and
I think his acts were despicable.  But Ayers did his time (in hiding)
and has spent his adult years heavily involved in charity, being
recognized multiple times for his community service.

And "service" is something I also thought conservatives favored.
Judging from the convention, Republicans no longer value service to
country.
