That's not called discrimination, that's called judgment.

As for this whole notion of fighting for what's right, think about it this
way. If some fringe group started blowing up buildings in the US to
"protest" against government and society, how would they be labeled? You
don't have to imagine it, because we have a real group- ELF. They burned
down a $20 million dollar construction project not four miles from my house
a few years ago. They are known as eco-terrorists.

Imagine that ELF got caught and escaped justice due to a legal technicality
at trial. If the head of ELF lived in my neighborhood and offered to host a
cocktail party at his house to get me started in politics, should I say, oh
what the heck, that was ten years ago, sure, go ahead and do that for me,
thanks?

I would never accept such an offer, I would not associate with him in any
way, and I would be very critical of anyone who did.  Again, that is called
judgment.
