That's always a possibility. I was living in DC for the Clinton inauguration in January 1993, and I remember distinctly that Clinton did not walk from the Capitol to the White House as was tradition, but instead be driven (in an armored limousine convoy with Gore in a different car, which has become the only prudent way for P and VP to travel). Too many crazies out there. If I was one of the four candidates, I would be wearing body armor (most likely they are wearing clothing that will stop a .22) and be packing a weapon, but that's just me. I would not be at all surprised if Palin was packing heat. I would be surprised if Obama was carrying a gun, but if I was him, I would put aside principles and focus on personal safety.
