I agree. US was founded by religious extremists kicked out of England.
In England there was a movement to 'purify' the church, hence Puritan. When people kind of got sick of this fundamentalist movement, the Puritans were kicked out of england, or at least out of english government in 1662. Those puritans who were most offended traveled to America. This..'puritanical' outlook seems to somehow have survived through the centuries though, and it is evident in public policy (Creationism, Attempts to overturn Abortion Rights, Irrational reaction to sex and nudity etc. ) as well as in the Media (Black nipple exposed for two seconds during the Superbowl was a sin on God and all that is Good). In the past Religion was good for setting people's moral compasses,Education , Medicine etc. But in the 21st century one shouldn't need religion to have Ethics. Of course this may be an over simplification, but it would explain to some degree this seemingly ultra religious aspect of the US culture which has become prevalent, and talked about, since the last few elections. (Religion played a high role in the Bush elections, and now in the McCain election). 2008/10/14 G Money <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > No sense in sugar coating it.....it's religion.
