I've actually come to like Eclipse now that I've been doing production support work. Remote Systems manager let's me organize the several hundred servers I need access to (windows, AIX, Solaris), quantum DB let's me do the same for databases (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server). I'm now supporting 35 Applications - none of which I built, most of which I've only just heard about and written in a surprisingly large collection of languages (some dead). Being able to "bookmark" lines in remote files, do history comparisons, etc all in one place has made my life moderately easier. Of course Eclipse is like an all-you-can-eat buffet run by 1,000 different people at once - there's a lot of good out there but figuring it all out, finding the good in a sea of crap and dealing with the general craziness. It took me at least four good tries before it finally "stuck" for me.
