McCain opposed the tax cuts before because they were not accompanied by
spending cuts. Now he is essentially saying let's keep the tax rates steady
and not damage the economy further.

Spending cuts are the thing no one is talking about. We need spending cuts,
and although I don't think McCain will be able to deliver any (especially
with a Democratic majority in Congress), he isn't going to back $1 trillion
a year in new spending programs like Obama will.
