Obama has raised $639 million dollars (which I think is obscene that
there is that much money in any political race, but whatever).

Anytime anyone goes over $200 they have to be reported to the FEC.
According to OpenSecrets, 90.7% of his donations qualify as Full
Disclosure which they define as:

FULL DISCLOSURE: Includes full name and occupation / employer.

And under Best Effort rules, they have to try and collect address info as well.

You'd be talking about 32,000 $200 fraudulent donations just to
comprise 1% of his fundraising total. Doable? Yeah. I'll concede that
you and Michael make a case for how it could be done. But when we
start talking about any meaningful quantity of his donations, I don't
see how you are going to keep it quiet. That's just too big a volume.

Especially when you consider how easy (and legal) it is to give large
amounts of money to 527 "issue" groups. They could just form a "Downed
Vietnam Fighter Pilots for Truth" group and smear McCain right and
left with $100 million without any trouble.

That being said, I'm all in favor of comprehensive campaign finance
reform. I just think this particular issue is making a mountain out of
a mole hill. More FUD than anything else.
