Actually you did have a black Republican running for President this
year. His name was Alan Keyes. He was in the debates in Iowa and
registered over 1% of the vote I believe. He became disaffected and
refused to acknowledge McCain's win and eventually went for the
Constitution Party's nomination, which he lost as well.

You might remember him better when he was drafted to run against
Barack Obama and bused in (intentional racial analogy there) to
Illinois run. And failed miserably.
