I find this whole thread very interesting, as I seem to remember that the
trend in public opinion has been "leave the family alone".

There was an outcry when talking about Palin's hubby and kids.
There was a general request by both campaigns to leave even the immediate
families alone.

I remember Billy Carter, and Roger Clinton, but the parents, grandparents,
and cousins have generally been off limits for many elections, now.


Did I just dream this, or has there really been a consensus by the
electorate that both the press and the campaigns should leave this stuff
alone?
