But that's like saying "if people wanted to vote, they'd vote" ... which is
true of course, but what are the statistics on how many eligible Americans
actually vote?  Of those people, how many actually take the time to go out
and thoroughly research the candidates?  As much as I hate to make a
sweeping generalization... there is a pretty significant percentage of the
population (and I'll include myself in this... I'm not nearly as educated
when it comes to politics as many on this list) that aren't going to
proactively make the effort.
They're not sitting there asking themselves, "hmm... I wonder what the
President-Elect thinks.  let me go check out whitehouse.gov and find out."
But they *are* hitting youtube to catch the latest mentos-in-dietcoke
experiment video.  And while they're there, if they happen to stumble upon a
video by the President-Elect, I think they'd be more apt to check it out.

Really, it comes down to... where's the most/best exposure? Whitehouse.gov
or Youtube.com?  If you agree that in general, the answer is the latter...
why would you post to the former?
