I think you'll find historically benefits were extended for exactly that
purpose. To encourage growth of nations. Perhaps not applicable in this day
and age where anything goes sexually. Perhaps rather than extending marriage
benefits to gays we should just remove them all together, since the idea of
marriage is getting distorted anyway. Then you can go ahead and marry
whatever your sexual taste is. Man, woman, donkey or xbox.

Yep.  Which means that marriage benefits have nothing to do with raising

marriage.
