We have debated this subject quite a bit on the list, enough so that
everyone who reads the list knows where most people who post stand on the
issue. I think there are good and principled reasons on both sides of the
argument. I'll sum up my thoughts like this. The notion that a dictator
running a criminal enterprise of murder and oppression against his own
citizens represents, in any way, the will of the people he is oppressing is
absurd on its face. The net result of coalition action in Iraq is that the
Iraqi people are free to choose their own path. In essence, their right of
self-determination has been enforced at the point of a gun. Wrong or right?
Each person has to make that decision for themselves.

Absolutely. Troops from many countries serve in peacekeeping missions all
around the world, so props to them.
