I've just heard a lot of negative about Plasma. The burn-in problem, for example, is often addressed by a "game mode": all this does is drastically reduces brightness of the image. So basically you can spent thousands to play your games on a crippled TV. (In my house at least the TV is on more for the PS3 than for the DirectTV.) I have also heard lots of concerns about the lifespan of the units. Maybe it's wrong, but I've just written them off at this point.
