> I see increased CO2 levels leading to stronger plant growth, which
produces oxygen,
> which balances out the CO2 emissions.

This is a ridiculous statement. If there were enough trees to absorb all the
co2 then sure, it would be true. The forests/rain forests are dwindling and
there is nowhere near enough trees to absorb all the greenhouse gases we're
increasingly producing.

As the global temp rises our ice caps start melting, exposing more water
which absorbs the solar energy, which heats the water which melts the ice
faster and so on. As the temp of the oceans rises it completely alters the
ecology of the seas and oceans. This has drastic effects on weather systems,
making the climate more turbulent as well as more violent.

It drives me nuts when people say things like "It's cold as hell here,
global warming is a myth." Global warming doesn't mean that there won't be
any cold days. It means that the shifts in weather and temperature become
more and more drastic. And it's not to say that we've never seen drastic
shifts in weather before, but we're seeing greater shifts and more often.
We're seeing an increase in weather events such as freak ice storms in
September that decimate trees that still have foliage. Flooding occurring in
winter when temperatures fluctuate so wildly that a foot of snow melts in
one day. Things like these are increasing in both frequency and amplitude.

Are we killing the planet? No. The planet will adapt. It can handle it. It
has billions of years to weather the storm. We, however, are much more
fragile. We have a very limited range of environments we can survive in.
Once Earth falls outside of this range it's good night and good luck.
