So the condo I bought a couple of months ago has surround sound pre-wired in
the wall. I've spent a little time Googling around for suggestions on how
to find the wires behind the drywall and hook up the speakers, but remain
unsatisfied with my level of knowledge and am uncomfortable cutting into the
pristine drywall and ruining it.

I did buy a "wire toner" that will help me located the wire endpoints behind
the wall. So far I have found general locations, but don't have very
precise locations for endpoints. I have a feeling the ends of the wires are
curled up inside the wall, so the toner is indicating a large area as a
potential location.

So the next step is to drill or cut into the drywall and fish out the wire.
I'm worried about having to cut a huge hole in the wall to get the wire out,
and then having to run that wire over to a stud to screw the speakers into
the wall. I don't want to have to clean up a buncha holes in the wall. I
have considered buying some flat wall plates to cover the holes, but I'd
rather not have a plate next to each speaker.

Has anyone done this before? I am having a hard time finding any good
tutorials or advice on it. I could just call the "Geek Squad" and have them
come out, but my inner geek's ego won't let me do that (yet).
