I've never bothered to sync email as I generally have so much on my desktop 
being saved, I just use the mobile device to check new mail and leave it on the 
server until I get home. So can't help much in this respect. But if you need a 
better email client, you might try FlexMail

For VOIP and IM you might try Fring which handles things like Skype, MSN 
Messenger, Twitter, etc.

Not sure what "doe highligihting" is, but there certainly are plenty of text 
editors for WM:

I highly doubt you can run Eclipse, these devices simply don't have enough 
memory to handle it.

Yeah, the type of stuff you are talking about, a mini laptop device is probably 
a better match, most run around $400.
