How exactly do you have a peaceful democratic revolution in a country where you can get shot for any reason at all without any repercussions? There was a revolution in Iraq, but it didn't happen in 2003 with the invasion. It happened when Iraqis chose by the millions to risk death and vote in free and fair elections.
The United States did not achieve independence on our own. Without the intervention of the French, we would have lost the Revolutionary War. And we've done OK with this democracy thing since then.
