But they said explicitly that the cylons created these new human-form cylons
in the time since the war... and yet they've been around for at least 2,000
years.

For a minute I thought they might have done one of the most astounding
switches in history: basically setting up that we (us, modern earthlings)
are the "cylons" and that we created the "humans" of BSG - perhaps via some
kind of colonization ships or something. That might have explained it...
then they screwed it all up by showing them remembering there "old" lives on
Earth.

If we can accept that they created the cylons over 2,000 years ago AND
forget that we were told that the human cylons were new then we're still
left with the concept that these people were at this level of technology
2,000 years and have only advanced to what we see in the show in that time
(remember that, for us, 2,000 years ago was the height of the Roman Empire).

They might go meta-physical (for example saying that the human-cylons are so
human now that they're getting "souls" but that those souls are somehow
"recycled") but damn, that would be stupid as hell.

I'm a huge fan of the show, but they've dug themselves into a hole that I
can't see them digging out of.
