i *think* that most companies (satellite, cable) are broadcasting at 1080i. i also think that on a screen smaller than 42", it'll be tough to see the difference in quality between 1080p and 1080i. I probably wouldn't "settle" for 720p tho. make sure it's at least a 1080i.
