The stimulus bill contains measures to nationalize health care via the back door, per Kim Strassel of WSJ:
- Massive expansion of SCHIP for children with parents making up to $65K to be covered for health care - Covering laid off workers with Medicaid - Covering 65% of Cobra payments Everyone is feeding at the trough. The bill also contains FICA credits that will create a permanent majority of voters who pay no federal taxes, according to Dick Morris. This issue worries me especially because it sets up a potential tyranny of the majority where the voters will elected people to Congress who will punish success with punitive taxes on the order of previous Democratic administrations. Such a move will drive successful business people and ambitious young people out of the United States. A brain drain like that would be a disaster for this country.
